Slow Down, Brake Safety Week is Right Around the Corner

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Brake Safety Week is almost here and we want to help your fleet prepare. Beginning August 20, enforcement officials across North America will be conducting brake system inspections and removing commercial motor vehicles found to have brake-related out-of-service violations off the roadways until corrected.

During the 2022 Brake Safety Week, 5,059 commercial vehicles throughout North America were placed out of service by enforcement officials due to critical brake-related violations. Over 6,000 vehicles were found to have brake hose chafing violations with varying levels of severity. Brake hose/tube chafing was the key focus of 2022 Brake Safety Week.

This year, the focus is on brake lining and pad issues which can result in vehicle violations, affect safety ratings, and put others at risk. Staying up to date on routine maintenance and brake system inspections helps to ensure driver safety and reduces downtime.

CVSA has provided a list of brake lining and pad tips here.
